Masked gunmen attack Garissa University College, heavy gunfire reported in the institution as police and military engage attackers; scores injured. 
 
Gunmen Thursday stormed Moi University campus in Garissa Town causing a major siege and casualties. Gunshots and explosions were heard from the compound for hours as police and military were mobilised to the institution. 
 
It is not clear who is behind the incident but witnesses say there is heavy presence of police and military in the area. Witnesses say the gunmen went into the university as students went for morning prayers. Those calling from inside the university say there are many casualties. 
 
Area residents say Kenya Defence Forces have surrounded the compound. The attack started from the Mosque inside the university where the attackers shot at worshippers indiscriminately. Students who escaped the attack said there were at least five gunmen. Many other students and teachers were by 8 am still being held hostage. 
 
They said the attackers had posed as worshipers at a mosque in the college. Witnesses said ambulances were carrying casualties to Nairobi. Local security bosses say there had been threats on the institutions inthe area from terror a group.

Heavy gunfire has been reported inside Garissa University College after an attack by masked gunmen presumed to Alshabaab.. 
 
Masked gunmen are said to have attacked the institution around 5.30am Thursday and are holding students hostage. Police said, as ongoing gunfire could be heard from the university premises. 
 
Witnesses said explosion and heavy gunfire rocked Garissa University College early on Thursday, and an ambulances were already at the scene 
 
“According to some of the students who escaped, there are around five gunmen and they entered the university dormitory while students were sleeping,” a local reporter was quoted. 
 
Kenya Red Cross officials say two policemen and a student have been injured by the attackers and have been rushed to hospital.

Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has been arrested over rape and assault allegation on a journalist in his private office in Nairobi. 
 
Mwiti was arrested and locked up at the Kileleshwa police station ahead of his arraignment Thursday, police said. This was after final results on tests that were to confirm allegations on him turned out positive, officials said. Police had said they had finished their probe and were set to charge him. 
 
The investigators had asked Mwiti to report to Parklands police station for “further briefing on the way forward” on Wednesday evening when he was informed he was under arrest. “He will be charged in court tomorrow (Thursday),” said an official aware of the case. 
 
The team comprising two officials from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had Friday visited the scene of the crime as part of their investigations. They also visited the home of the raped victim, a journalist cum PR practitioner and recorded further statements from her. 
 
Apart from the woman, the team has also recorded further statements from other witnesses including a driver who ferried the woman home after the attack on March 21 and a security manager of Pizza Gardens. Mwiti was also last Thursday grilled for the second time over claims he assaulted and raped a woman in his private office in Nairobi.

Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko is among senior Governments who are mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) list of shame that was tabled in Parliament by President Uhuru Kenyatta last week. 
 
The flamboyant Senator, who is famous for his philanthropic work, is accused by the EACC of colluding with suspended Energy Cabinet Secretary, Davis Chirchir, in stealing Sh 1.39 billion from the Kenya Pipeline Company. 
 
“Energy CS Chirchir is accused of attempts to influence a KPL tender award to SINOPEC, which was to yield Sh1.3b to be shared with Mike Sonko,” the EACC reports reads. 
 
The Nairobi Senator also features on a land graft case where he is accused of plotting to pocket Sh 65 million in form of kickbacks in the sale of the controversial Waitiki farm. 
 
He was planning to share the amount with Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu, who is also in the “List of Shame”

Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, is among 10 Governors who are adversely mentioned by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) in connection with misappropriating millions of shillings that belong to the good people of Bomet County. 
 
According to an EACC dossier that was recently handed over to parliament by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Ruto, who is also the Chairman of the Council of Governors, is accused of looting over Sh 800 million shillings. 
 
With this money, he bought 40 earth movers worth Sh 400 million for his construction company, a chopper worth Sh 300 million to help him move around and a palatial house worth Sh 33 million. 
 
“Allegations of accumulating immense wealth including: 40 earth movers/ tippers / graders all estimated  at Sh 400 million, a chopper  worth Sh 300 million, and a palatial house worth Sh 33 million. He also operates several petrol stations,” part of the dossier reads. 
 
Ruto however maintained that he is innocent and he will not resign because he is not a thief.

The Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) report tabled in Parliament Tuesday shed light on the accusations facing top Government officials. 
 
Suspended Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Felix Koskei now knows the accusations facing him after the list was unveiled and graft cases listed. 
 
According to the report, it is alleged that Koskei allocated permits to some business people to import sugar without going through open tendering and against the procurement laws of Kenya and the policy under COMESA rules. 
 
Koskei also faces allegations of conflict of interest, abuse of office and intimidation. 
 
Also from the report, it is said that Koskei under unclear circumstances rented Government land Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute at Tigoni and has ploughed 100 acres where he has planted potatoes, an undertaking being managed by his PA MR. Kigen.

Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, on Sunday claimed that his name was included in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s list of corrupt mongrels because he has been telling Deputy President William Ruto the truth. 
 
Speaking during a funds drive at Chebai AIC Church in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Ruto said he will not resign because he has not even at one time been summoned by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC). 
 
“No investigative body has ever been to Bomet to ask questions about anything. I am being hunted because I refused to toe William Ruto’s line,” the Governor said. 
 
He urged church leaders to unite the Kalenjin community because the United Republican Party (URP) and Ruto have failed to do so.

Othaya Member of Parliament, Mary Wambui, has blamed female MPs for rape and s3xu@l abuse from their male counterparts. 
 
This follows increased cases of male MPs s3xu@lly harassing their female counterparts like was the case with Turbo MP, Elisha Busienei, who alleged tried to harass Taita Taveta MP, Joyce Lay, s3xu@lly while on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s trip to Japan. 
 
Speaking yesterday, Wambui blamed her female colleagues accusing them of driving male MPs to have s3x with them. 
 
She revealed that female MPs have been allowing their male counterparts who are not their husbands or boyfriends to touch them right within the precincts of Parliament and even take them out to drink until very late in the night where they end up having s3x while drunk. 
 
Wambui, who was speaking in Iria-ini during a fundraiser to buy a school bus, defended Busienei and male MPs over s3xu@l allegations against women, saying it is women who drive them crazy with their promiscuity and amorousness. 
 
“Women leaders are to blame for s3xu@l harassment from male MPs. They allow men who are not their husbands to touch them even in Parliament and even take them to dinner to have drinks until very late and they end up sleeping with them,” said Wambui.

Senior advisers to the office of the Deputy President William Ruto have resigned and some have shifted camps to the President’s office accusing the DP of being unable to consume ‘professional advice’. 
 
The technocrats in essence are echoing what Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto recently said of the Deputy President – that he is a roaming dictator whose word is law – and therefore unfit to be anything beyond his current station (as Deputy President). 
 
Of the six top technocrats in the office of the DP, five have since resigned, including Yale University academic Prof Hino Hiroyuki. 
 
The don, who used to be Economic Affairs Adviser to Former Prime minister Raila Odinga quit a year ago and returned to Yale University. 
 
According to sources, Ruto didn’t like him for the mere fact the he used to work as advisor to PM, yet he had been seconded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to advise the government of Kenya on the multi-billion projects Japan was funding. 
 
Another technocrat who has asked to be released from the DP’s office is Dr. James Nyoro, a food humanist whose paper on food security was dismissed by the botanist-cum-politician William Ruto as ‘idiotic’. 
 
Nyoro accuses Ruto of having no capacity to grasp professional advice. 
 
In sternest terms attributed to him, Njoro protested the ‘lack of professionalism and scarce attention to detail’ that is the modus operandi of the DP, a claim DP Ruto’s head of communications David Mugonyi has vehemently dismissed as ‘no story’, saying his boss is a professional pursuing a PhD. 
 
Ruto registered for a post-graduate degree in the 1990s and is yet to finish his studies. He is among Kenya’s longest learning PhD students! 
 
Former Permanent secretary on Climate Change Ali Mohammed has moved to the ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was hired as senior advisor on Climate Change. 
 
Two more officials have also moved from the DP’s office. Jasper Mbiuki, Legislative Affairs and Peter Kariuki, Governance, Accountability  and Deliver Adviser are said to have crossed over to OP where they worked before being seconded to the DP’s office. 
 
Ruto’s Chief of Staff Maryanne Keitanny are among national government officials who were suspended due to corruption. 
 
From the goings on at the DP’s office, it appears the only senior official with DP’s ears remaining is his Private Secretary Farouk Kibet. However, the tragedy with Mr. Kibet is that he is a std 3 drop-out who cannot consume anything technical to position the DP’s office as a serious governance unit within the presidency. 
 
Critics of Kibet also claim he is only fluent in Nandi language and depend on it so much so that if you want anything to be pushed by him, you have to translate it then express it in the Nandi dialect, an arduous task.

A middle aged man has reportedly abused his wife by putting super glue on her vagina. 
The woman, 40, from Mpumalanga in South Africa, has said she’ll never be able to have sex again because of the damage it has done to her genitalia. 
 
She told African Eye News Service: “My husband was an abusive man for many years. His abuse spiralled out of control when my uncle dropped me off at our home. He then accused me of cheating on him with my uncle.” 
 
The woman said that her husband screamed at her telling her he’d teach her a lesson. 
He allegedly took out a machete and threatened to chop off her head, if she didn’t lie down and open her legs. 
 
She said she was forced to lie there in “horror” as he applied the super glue. 
“Every time the month of March comes along I remember the cruelty that he showed me,” she said. 
“I do not know what would make a man who loves a woman do that to her. I wanted to press charges, but he fled and has not been seen since the incident. 
 
“I am scared that he might come back anytime and remove my head.” 
The woman now experiences severe pain every time she urinates and will never be able to have sex again. 
Women’s charities have condemned the act and urged a serious reaction. 
 
Polly Neate, CEO of Women’s Aid, said: “This is a serious incident of domestic violence. Unless we recognise domestic violence when we see it, we will never recognise how pervasive it is – in many cultures including our own – or achieve the cultural change needed to understand victims’ experiences and respond appropriately to both them and the perpetrators.”

President Barack Obama will make his first trip to Kenya, the country of his father's birth. 
 
The White House announced Monday morning that President Obama will travel to Kenya this July for the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which the Kenyan government has agreed to co-host this year. 
 
“His trip will build on the success of the August 2014 U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit and continue our efforts to work with countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Kenya, to accelerate economic growth, strengthen democratic institutions, and improve security,” the White House said in a statement. 
 
Obama's trip will be his fourth to sub-Saharan Africa since becoming president, said the White House. It will be his first to his father's homeland since his 2008 election. He did not visit Kenya during his last major trip to Africa in 2013 amid charges of crimes against humanity against the country's leader, Uhuru Kenyatta, at the International Criminal Court. 
 
Obama has indicated on several occasions that he would likely visit the country before the end of his presidency. 
 
The sixth annual summit will attempt to connect “emerging entrepreneurs with leaders from business, international organizations, and governments looking to support them.” The White House called the event a "global platform" for deepening relationships between the U.S. government, local leaders and communities. 
 
The 2014 summit was hosted in Morocco.

Today the theme is Davido. No artist has generated more hate from Kenyans in recent years than the Nigerian, and looking at the events of the past weekend, it’s clear why. 
 
Davido started off his visit at NTV studios, and it was obvious he had no idea he was inside the largest media house in East Africa, perhaps even larger than any private media in Nigeria. 
 
His pride and arrogance started when he met Victoria Rubadiri and Yvonne Maingi, and continued downstairs on Kimathi Street as he was being interviewed by Larry.

KTN’s investigative reporter, Mohammed Ali, has lashed out at President Uhuru Kenyatta after he ordered all State and public officials mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) report to resign. 
 
Laying his sentiments on social media, Moha said that Uhuru is taking Kenyans for a ride since his new directive is more of a public relation stunt. 
 
The fiery journalist added that President Uhuru Kenyatta should look for babies to lie to because Kenyans are now wiser than before. 
 
Moha also added that there is a prominent Government leader who is missing in the list. 
He claims that the prominent leader popularly referred to as “Arap Mashamba” or Arap Singh, should be the first to resign following Uhuru Kenyatta’s new directive. 
 
“Stepping aside isn't enough. They should be jailed. The list isn't complete, where is the MissingSingh?” Read one of Moha’s tweets.
