The just concluded by-election in Ugenya North Ward is causing ODM strategists and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga some sleepless nights.<br />
<br />
Even after his candidate, Shaban Omar, beat Uhuru/ Ruto’s JAP candidate, Steve Mwanga, with 3, 370 votes against 1, 672 votes, Raila Odinga is not happy and has been worried since.<br />
<br />
This is after it emerged that Uhuru/ Ruto’s man got almost half of the total votes cast in his Luo Nyanza stronghold, something that has never happened before.<br />
<br />
Speaking yesterday, ODM Secretary General, Ababu Namwamba, confirmed Raila Odinga’s worst fears, saying the outcome in the just concluded by-election spells doom for the party and the former PM as it shows the ground is shifting fast against him and ODM.<br />
<br />
He said the results were a clear indication that ODM and Raila are losing ground and popularity in Luo Nyanza but blamed the shoddy nominations for the bad performance in ODM strongholds.<br />
<br />
“It is not a secret, shoddy nominations in the party is what is costing us now and if the trend continues, ODM will lose even the obvious seats to Uhuru/ Ruto in 2017,” said Namwamba.<br />

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga hosted KTN’s investigative journalist, Mohammed Ali, and businessman Imran Kholsa, when the duo paid him a courtesy call this morning at his Capitol Hill office.<br />
<br />
Raila, who is currently busy trying to cover his face after his bashing on Sunday by US President Barrack Obama, welcomed Moha and his friend warmly and spared some time chatting with them over a cup of coffee.<br />
<br />
But why would Moha and Kholsa visit Baba that early for a chart? Was Kenya on fire again?<br />
<br />
Well, according to details from the meeting this morning, Moha and the businessman friend had no ‘pregnant’ agenda for visiting Raila and they just wasted his precious time somewhat.<br />
<br />
The three just discussed football matters and the progress that Gor Mahia has made in the CECAFA Championship, as well as this weekend’s clash of the titans in the English FA Community Shied Cup between Chelsea and Arsenal at Wembley Stadium, where Baba predicated that Arsenal would carry the day.<br />
<br />
Raila also put his money on Gor Mahia and wished K’Ogalo to go all the way and clinch the CECAFA Championship.

A section of MPs allied to Uhuru/ Ruto’s Jubilee have accused former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, and the Opposition of scuttling the war on corruption.<br />

This follows a move by MPs to sack the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO, Halake Waqo, and his Deputy, Francis Mubea, through a vote in Parliament; a move that has left a rotten egg on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s face in his quest to end corruption in Government.<br />
<br />
Addressing the Press during a church function at the PCEA Church in Githurai, Nairobi, Jubilee MPs led by Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti South), Esther Gathogo (Ruiru), Anne Nyokabi (Kiambu) and Alice Wahome (Kandara), claimed that Raila Odinga was behind last week’s vote to send home the entire EACC secretariat.<br />
<br />
They said the endorsement of the EACC Bill introduced by CORD’s Deputy Whip, Chris Wamalwa, was part of a wider scheme by Raila Odinga to paralyze investigations into corruption scandals and in the process render President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has cracked the whip on his war on graft, beginning with the infamous list of shame, ineffective and incapable.<br />
<br />
“As leaders of Central region, we feel that the main motivation behind the disbandment of the EACC secretariat is to blackmail the President and thwart the war on corruption, as well as cover up corruption by some figures in the Opposition,” said Waweru.<br />
<br />
Uhuru has expressed fury over the MPs’ move to send the EACC secretariat home saying the decision would greatly hamper the war on corruption.

Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, on Saturday warned Jubilee leaders that he would stop at nothing to win the 2017 Presidential Elections as he rallied voters to register in large numbers.<br />
<br />
 Speaking at the burial of Mzee Ogindo Oyamo, former aide to Jaramogi Odinga at Ahero in Kisumu, Raila said Kenyans can no longer continue suffering at the hands of a Government that does not bother about equality in public service delivery.<br />
<br />
He went back on his earlier remarks and said that there was nothing to fear in the newly-launched National Youth Service because it was a national institution that had to do the work of cleaning city slums and clearing drainages as they do.<br />
<br />
 The former PM reiterated that they were not opposed to the NYS projects as it is being interpreted in their calls for Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, to step aside and allow room for investigations.<br />
<br />
“Theft at the NYS must be dealt with. The Government must take action against the thieves behind the loss of millions of shillings in inflated tenders as well as supplies that are now a subject of investigations,” the former PM said.<br />
<br />
Mr Odinga likened the Jubilee administration to a night runner caught up by dawn before he retreats home.

Deputy President William Ruto will have to wait for another month to know how the International Criminal Court (ICC) will rule on the ICC Chief Prosecutor’s application to use prior recorded witness’ statements after case presiding judge, Chile Eboe Osuji, said his team will decide on the application in August after reviewing the submissions from Ruto’s defence and the victims’ representatives.<br />

But as Ruto’s case takes shape, here in Kenya, a number of former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga’s ardent followers are praying day and night to have Ruto jailed for life.<br />

A reliable source from Mt. Kenya intimated that Jubilee leaders in Central have embraced the fight against illicit brew as a way of stopping former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who they alleged is partly responsible for the killer brews as a way of reducing the infamous tyranny of numbers from the Kikuyu nation.<br />
<br />
The source said that leaders are secretly telling their people that the killer brew in Central Kenya is as a result of the deadly methanol from Raila Odinga’s Molasses Plant in Kisumu.<br />
<br />
“Many youths have joined the war against illicit brew simply by believing that they are stopping Raila from ‘destroying’ the region in a bid to reduce the numbers ahead of 2017. This is what politicians from Central Kenya have told them,” said a source.<br />
<br />
The source claimed that the Mt. Kenya leaders were informed by a top NIS officer, during a meeting at State House by President Uhuru Kenyatta, that almost half of the methanol used to lace killer brews in Central comes from Raila Odinga’s Molasses plant in Kisumu.<br />
<br />
However, the truth about the whole allegations against the former PM is yet to be ascertained and Raila could be innocent.<br />

Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, to prepare to leave State House by 2017, because a Tsunami is coming to sweep them from power by force.<br />

Speaking at an interview when he paid a courtesy call to Mulembe FM and Vuuka FM, Raila said he will do whatever it takes to ascend to the Presidency in 2017 and no one will stop him.<br />

He said he will not entertain the Supreme Court nonsense anymore because the Judiciary had become an annex of the Executive.<br />

At the same time, the CORD leader raised a red flag saying Uhuru/ Ruto have began training Mungiki to kill his supporters when he beats them in 2017 but warned that they will be met by the ‘bull hammer’.<br />

“As we all know, Uhuru Kenyatta did not surpass the 50%+1 vote but he connived with the Supreme Court judges to heist my victory but I kept quiet. Now they have started training Mungiki so that they can kill our supporters if we beat them. I promise you that we will deal with any situation out rightly,” said Mr. Odinga.<br />

And when a caller asked Raila to explain how he intends to achieve his objective, Raila said he has a secret strategy that will never fail, but refused to disclose it.<br />

“I don’t want to disclose my secret weapon now because the enemy might come up with ways to outmatch me. It is better if I leave it at that for the time being,” he said.

CORD leader Raila Odinga has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of recruiting Mungiki ahead of 2017 polls. Speaking to Human Rights bodies in his Upper Hill office, Mr. Odinga said President Kenyatta is using the second liquor generation crackdown as a platform to recruit youth from Central Kenya.<br />
<br />
According to Raila, the President has sensed defeat and he is using his attack-dogs Gatundu South Member of Parliament hon. Moses Kuria and Kabete Member of Parliament hon. Ferdinand Waititu to train goons in readiness for 2017 response to election loss.<br />
<br />
“What is going on in Central Kenya has nothing to do with illicit liquor crackdown. We have all seen how youths are armed with machetes, Rungus. If you want to destroy second generation liquor, why would one need a machete or an axe?” Said the former Prime Minister.<br />
<br />
“I therefore ask the CID, Director of Public Prosecutions and other relevant investigating authorities to move with speed and debacle the entire snafu that is likely to sink this country and take it back to 2007. The people’s inalienable rights to elect a leader of their choice under a peaceful, free, fair and credible elections must not be stolen from them” Added Mr. Odinga.<br />

Raila has promised to issue a press conference in the course of the week to address the issue fully.

Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga and his attacks dogs have indirectly and silently opposed the ongoing war on illicit brew in Central Kenya terming it as an act of hooliganism.<br />

On Saturday, Raila’s attack dog and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, opposed the ongoing war on illicit alcohol saying those who are destroying brewing dens should be arrested and charged for damaging property.<br />
<br />
“The law of the jungle in force in Central Kenya under the command of leaders, who swore to defend, protect and uphold the constitution,” Wetangula said in on social media.<br />
<br />
Raila Odinga himself told journalists in Nyanza that those who are destroying brewing dens in Central Kenya should be charged because the constitution is against destruction of property.<br />
<br />
But why are Raila and his attack dogs opposed to the war on illicit brew in Central Kenya?<br />

Central Kenya leaders are secretly telling their people that the killer brews from the region is as a result of ethanol from Kisumu molasses plant owned by CORD leader Raila Odinga.<br />
<br />
A source privy to the ongoing battle to clear the region of deadly liquor has told Politica that many youths are joining the war against the brewers simply by believing they are stopping Raila from ‘destroying’ the region in a bid to reduce the numbers ahead of 2017. This, the source claims, is what politicians from the region are using to heighten the anger against the brewers.<br />
<br />
The leaders are claiming top NIS officials who briefed them at State House informed the shocked audience that almost half of the ethanol being used to concoct the killer brews come from Raila’s company, the Kisumu Mollases plant.<br />

It is however doubtful that Raila has anything to do with the killer brewes from Mt. Kenya.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been voted Africa’s President of the year 2014-2015 for his outstanding leadership.<br />

The Head of State was picked for the prestigious Africa Education and Leadership Awards for his ability to build consensus locally and abroad and his efforts to change policies for the better and supervise solutions that address Kenya’s pressing issues.<br />

Thousands of university students from institutions of higher learning in Africa also recognised President Kenyatta for initiating progressive economic programmes aimed at uplifting the lives of Kenyans.<br />

The students, who are members of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), presented President Kenyatta with the award, which, among other things, celebrates “outstanding leadership and educational excellence”.<br />

AASU student leaders, drawn from 12 local universities, presented the award to the President at State House in Nairobi.<br />

They were accompanied by Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi , PS Belio Kipsang and a team from the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.<br />
<br />
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is a previous recipient of the award.<br />
<br />
The President said it was important for students to engage the Education ministry when they have issues instead of taking to the streets to protest.<br />
<br />
“You should engage the ministry (of Education) in a more constructive manner without going to the streets and throwing stones”, the President told the student leaders, who also told the Head of State they needed more funding from the Higher Education Loans Board.<br />
<br />
The President instructed Prof Kaimenyi and head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua to explore how the students can be funded to hold the next AASU summit in Nairobi later in the year.<br />
<br />
He said it is necessary to establish more incubation centres where students can nurture their skills and develop their innovative ideas.<br />
<br />
President Kenyatta said he was excited by incubation centres where young people are developing products and exploring economic opportunities.<br />

Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, was the first opposition leader in Africa to congratulate newly sworn in Nigeria President, Mohammadu Buhari, after he won the March 31 Presidential Elections.<br />

In his congratulatory message, Raila, who is also the CORD leader, said Buhari’s win demonstrated that even the incumbent can be flushed out of office in free and democratic elections.<br />

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has assured his ‘brothers’ - former Vice President, Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula - that they will stick together until ‘death’ do them apart.<br />

Speaking at a rally to campaign for the Okoa Kenya referendum at the historic Mulu Mutisya Gardens in Machakos, Raila downplayed the Jubilee propaganda that he was planning to dump Kalonzo and Wetangula by launching his 2017 presidential campaign strategy which will automatically lock out the 2 CORD Co-Principals from vying for President on a CORD ticket saying they will remain united and nothing will come between them.<br />

He accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, of trying to create a wedge between CORD leaders that they may split before 2017 to their advantage but said he won’t let that happen.<br />

“We are firmly together as a family and I cannot leave my brothers Kalonzo and Wetangula. These guys (Uhuru/ Ruto) think that we are stupid,” said Raila.<br />

In 2012, newly elected Nigerian President, General Muhammadu Buhari, lost his first born daughter, Zulai Buhari, under mysterious circumstances – something that left many Nigerians shocked.<br />

Langer recently gave Raila Odinga a whopping 10 million Euros, which is way over sh1 billion, to kick off the Okoa Kenya campaigns that saw the referendum bill launched.<br />

Personally I’ve even been toeing with the idea that we(Opposition block) should steal him from the other side,support him for the presidency in 2017 and use him to return Kenya to Kenyans!The DP has been shattering such hopes every other second.<br />
Having been politically born into,fed and bred in the KANU hegemony and fully moulded with the KANU ideology if at all there was any,it’s an open secret that Ruto’s most significant political turning point came under Raila and majorly at the instigation of Raila Odinga himself and his pool of insensitive and politically myopic sycophants.It’s in-debatable that Raila played a very big role in transforming William Ruto into the political colossus that he became in 2013 and shortly after.<br />

When he left us here and crossed over to the other side,we were thoroughly punctured and all we saw was our political dreams being swept away by the winds of numbers into the horizon of history!And of course the rest as they say,is history.<br />
Fast forward into post 2013 elections and the political colossus has steadily been receding into political insignificance.Under Raila,the DP should have learnt something on how to maintain political significance;His personal and human weaknesses aside,we must give it unto Raila Odinga that he proved to be probably the finest political schemer and political mobilizer of our time,under this our hard won political pluralism up until he became a paper Prime Minister in 2008!<br />

In fact,if not for his inability to retain political allies and their constituencies,his seemingly idiopathic political “bad/no luck” and/or “bad omen”,and of course the heavy burden of clueless,reckless,careless,selfish and myopic gang of sycophants,Raila would have served as a president already!<br />
One of the things that Raila has effectively utilized over the years to always remain significant in the political arena is the art of Rebellion.When KANU seemed a hard nut to crack,Raila left the Opposition and joined it.When he couldn’t have his ways,he rebelled against President Moi and punctured KANU,joined NARC and alongside other Opposition politicians, dethroned KANU from power in 2002,emerging as among the most powerful individuals in the NARC government despite being a mere roads minister.<br />

When he felt shortchanged in NARC again,he rebelled against President Kibaki,teamed up with the Opposition KANU again and thrashed Kibaki in the 2005 Constitutional Referendum- a massive win from which he consequently built one of the most powerful political movements of recent times.<br />

This movement would go ahead and thrash Kibaki in the subsequent general election of 2007 though Kibaki refused to leave power and Kenyans went for each other’s head until the Raila could not bear the sight of blood and roasted corpses anymore!Raila became a paper Prime Minister and this paper power made him loose all his senses,marking the beginning of the end of the enigma Kenya’s politics as it were!<br />

In all the three Governments that Raila served,he always rebelled against the center thereby creating the perception of a “strong man” capable of standing on his own,or funnily enough,with the people!He remained politically strong and significant until he eventually felt he had become part of the center,and he began rolling backwards,or is it downwards?<br />

William Ruto,having gotten into this Jubilee Government as it’s Deputy leader and with an almost equal share,should have borrowed a leaf from the good old Tinga and behaved like he had “equal share” in the Government.He should have created an alternative center- a center for internal political ventilation and a center for a possible exit axis just in case it becomes really necessary.<br />

Otherwise if there’s one thing that will completely neutralize our deputy president and block his path to the presidency,it’s his loyalty to his boss the President-what he calls their friendship-the friendship that makes him stand for 3o minutes when his boss is speaking.This friendship,unquestionable loyalty and total submission to Uhuru Kenyatta is only paving way for Peter Kenneth or whoever may emerge as the Mount Kenya heir to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.<br />

Prime Minister Raila Odinga Friday slammed government efforts to shift public attention from Deputy President William Ruto, who is embroiled in a referral hospital scandal where the cost of the project was inflated by Sh11 billion. Speaking at Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, Raila said the DP needed not defend himself on Twitter.<br />

While he was careful not to pass guilt, he censured the Jubilee administration for double-speak in the war against graft. “I do not wish to be dragged into this controversial issue of who is guilty and who is not. However, if indeed you (DP) are clean, you do not need to have a twitter hash-tag-stating the same,” said Raila, in reference the twitter hashtag #RutoIsClean. He added, “You do not have to clean yourself through twitter. People will know when you are clean. I do not wish anybody harm.”<br />

The former Premier however declined to comment further on the allegations against the DP, which went viral on social media with Kenyans demanding action after a whistleblower accused the DP of kicking him out of the Sh17 billion deal and inflating it to Sh28 billion.<br />

The CORD leader however, said his relationship with the President and his deputy is cordial and has nothing personal against them, only difference in opinion. He castigated the government saying the country is losing the war. “The war on corruption cannot be won merely with words. We must have proper institutions to deal with systemic issues that have affected this country over the years and slowed development,” he said<br />
<br />
He said: “The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is the institution established by law and mandated to deal with issues of economic crime. The president cannot purport to declare war on corruption and at the same time disband the commission.” The former Prime Minister expressed disappointment that the president suspended EACC commissioners after he issued a six days executive order for state officers mentioned in the list of shame to step aside.<br />
<br />
“How do you disband a commission and ask it to take 60 days to deal with 175 cases? This is contradiction, as the government is not taking this matter seriously. I do not know if these actions amount to fighting corruption since the commission cannot operate without substantive commissioners,” said Raila.<br />
<br />
He added, “The question I’m putting over to the country’s leadership is to tell Kenyans where they stand in the war on corruption.”
