A Nairobi court has issued a fresh warrant of arrest against award winning journalist, Jeff Koinange, after he failed to appear in court on Monday morning.
During the mentioning of his case, Nairobi Principal Magistrate ordered that the Sh100, 000 bail granted to Koinange last week be surrendered to the State.
Jeff’s lawyers, Charles Mwongera and Edwin Sifuna, informed the court that they could not reach him because he was said to be in Nigeria attending a meeting.
Jeff’s lawyers managed to secure Koinange bail last week and said he will not abscond court sessions.
Political commentator, Tony Gachoka, was however present in court on Monday.
Jeff and Gachoka were sued by Nairobi businessman, Jimi Wanjigi, for allegedly linking his company, Kwacha Group of Companies, to the Anglo-Leasing and Goldenberg scandals.
The two allegedly uttered defamatory statements linking the company to the scam during Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show on KTN.
