Speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi, escaped death by a whisker on Saturday evening after the chopper he was travelling in had to make an emergency landing inside Aberdares Forest.

According to sources, the chopper landed because it was time barred and due to poor visibility over the forest which was its flight path.

Other sources said the plane was forced to land due to poor weather after a heavy downpour on Saturday evening.

The pilot had apparently complained that he could not see far and it was late which forced him to land in a farm.

Muturi and his team were later picked up by police from Nyandarua and driven to Nairobi. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Muturi who was accompanied by Nominated Senator, Beatrice Elachi and Kiminini MP, Chis Wamalwa, had just left St Brigit Girls High School, Kiminini, in Trans Nzoia where he had conducted a fundraising event.
