Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has accused Deputy President William Ruto of being the greatest enemy to devolution.

In a media interview last week, Ruto, who is also the chairman of the Governors’ Council, accused the Deputy President of micromanaging Counties with a case in point being the recent suspension of 9 Members of Bomet County from URP by the Deputy President for refusing to support the move to impeach him.

He blasted the Deputy President and called him a myopic leader with no vision for the country at all.

“The greatest threat to devolution will come from URP because of the extremely selfish and myopic thinking of Deputy President William Ruto. He thinks by expelling MCAs he will impeach me and in the process micro-manage MCAs and County Governments,” said Isaac Ruto.

He said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy were in panic mode and are afraid of losing power through devolution that’s why they are hell-bent on killing it even before it matures.

“I have strongly defended this institution and in the process, rubbed some people the wrong way. We are now creating a culture of devolution. Obviously, a new system will be resisted, especially one in which power is being taken away from the centre. The centre will always resist,” said the Bomet Governor.
