It will be a sad period for the country’s arts industry as arguably one of its greatest founding fathers passed on the evening of Sunday, July 12, 2015.
Benson Wanjau, popularly known as Mzee Ojwang‘ in the once popular comic show Vitimbi that used to air on Kenya Broadcasting Coporation (KBC) passed on at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The one time darling of the audience of local TV is said to have succumbed to pneumonia, having been taken to hospital the same morning.
“He complained this morning and was rushed to KNH where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted,” Mary Khavere, popularly known as Mama Kayai said in an interview with a local TV station.
He dies aged 78-years.
