Embattled Devolution Cabinet  Secretary, Anne Waiguru, has stood her ground that she won’t step aside to give room for investigations into the attempted stealing of sh826 million at the National Youth Service (NYS) as demanded by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

Speaking in an interview with a local newspaper, Waiguru said she is the one who discovered the attempted theft at NYS and alerted the authorities and therefore cannot and will not quit as a result.

Besides, she can’t just resign because Raila Odinga wants her to because the former PM did not appoint her and therefore he is not her boss.

She said the only person she respects is President Uhuru Kenyatta, and that if he asks her to relinquish her position as Devolution CS, she will do it gladly the following minute.

“People don’t just step aside because people want them to. I was the whistle blower in the attempted theft at NYS and will not quit just because Raila has said so. My appointing authority is President Uhuru Kenyatta and will only resign if he says so,”
said Waiguru.

She termed the allegations against her as false and urged Kenyans to treat them as just mere allegations.
