“I had the opportunity to photograph this amazing birth on June 27 for a surrogate and two expecting and anxious daddies. Hours were spent with them in the hospital room while the surrogate mom was laboring and I got to know them quite well.They are two compassionate people who felt all the emotions that every new parent feels. They asked all appropriate questions of the birthing mom and the midwife and educated themselves as best as they could for their son’s arrival. I am so proud of these two dads.”<br />

21 year old Nokuthula Hlongwane looked normal and happy a week days before she she decided to take her own life, in fact she looked happier than ever, little did anyone know that she was planning to end her own life.<br />
<br />
Beginning of that week on Monday, she left to say goodbye to her colleagues. and everybody thought she was quitting her job probably for greener pastures.<br />
<br />
His boyfriend Scelo, also though that his girlfriend had bigger plans and was going to surprise him. The next day, Scelo called her phone but no one answered, he later received shocking news that Nokuthula had jumped 13 floors to her death.<br />
<br />
Scelo told the local daily “What I’m feeling is beyond pain. I didn’t see it coming. We talked about everything . . . or so I thought.” According to the boyfriend, her womb had been paining her since 2012. “When the pain got serious, she wouldn’t go to work and I could see she felt useless,” Scelo said.<br />
A few days before her death, her womb had starting paining her but this time she had a plan and no one knew. After quitting, she went home and posted things on her Facebook page.<br />
<br />
Her last posting was 24 photos of herself with the caption: “Before I go to heaven”. Then she left messages for Scelo about an important letter for him on her laptop. “I tried phoning but her phone just rang.<br />
<br />
 The next morning I got the call,” said a sobbing Scelo. In her last letter Nokuthula said that she wanted to relieve her family and friends off the burden of caring for her and she thought it would be wise to end her life.<br />

Drama unfolded over the weekend in Kayole, Nairobi when a man’s attempt to commit suicide was thwarted by residents and Kenya Power.<br />

The distraught man had climbed atop an electricity pole and was dangling by the electricity lines when residents risked their lives to save him from himself. Thanks to Kenya Power, power supply had been shut off in the area.<br />

According to witness reports, the man was later given a dog’s beating after the incident.<br />

A Meru man pleaded not guilty before court on allegations of having sex with a cow.<br />

Boniface Gitonga was presented before Meru Principal Magistrate Joseph Karanja on Wednesday where he was accused of having intimate relations with a cow on Monday.<br />
<br />
According to the prosecution, Gitonga was caught in the act by locals at Thungura-Meitei village in Buuri sub-county.<br />
<br />
His case will be mentioned on July 16.<br />

He was freed on a Sh50,000 bond with a surety of similar amount, or an alternative of Sh 25,000 cash bail<br />

32 persons have been confirmed dead and over 1000 injured in the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal's eastern region this morning. The quake, which comes two and a half weeks after the first one that killed over 8000 people, was so strong, it was felt in New Delhi, India. An 11-year old girl with intellectual and learning disabilities who was raped and became pregnant has indicated that she wants to keep the child.<br />
<br />
The unnamed Uruguayan girl is currently 16 weeks pregnant and, according to doctors and sources close to her family, she dreams of raising the baby with her attacker.<br />
<br />
The girl was allegedly raped by the 41-year-old grandfather of her half-sister, who was visiting the family in its Montevideo home. He has been detained and will be prosecuted for rape, Uruguayan officials told Agence France-Presse.<br />
<br />
In Uruguay, abortion is legal up to 12 weeks of gestation and 14 weeks in the case of rape, but medical reports indicate that the girl does not have the capacity to understand the consequences of pregnancy and motherhood.<br />
<br />
"Although the legal deadline for abortion has been exceeded, if we determine that the pregnancy endangers her health, judicial authorization could be granted," Marisa Lindner, director of Uruguay's Child and Adolescent Institute (INAU), told a press conference.<br />
<br />
The hospital has said the girl is in good health and under medical supervision, and Monica Silva, director of INAU's health division, told La Diaria newspaper that "there is no risk of life for the girl or baby, so we cannot make her have an abortion."<br />
<br />
The Uruguayan case comes soon after a similar incident in neighboring Paraguay, in which a 10-year-old was raped and impregnated by her stepfather. Paraguay’s health minister blocked the girl from getting an abortion because the country’s constitution forbids the procedure unless the mother's life is in danger.<br />

Doctors in Nebraska prolonged the life of a brain dead woman for 54 days so she could deliver a baby boy named Angel.<br />

The last time a brain-dead woman in the U.S. delivered a baby was 1999, the paper said.<br />
Baby Angel was delivered earlier last month at Methodist Health System in Omaha.<br />

The hospital said a team of more than 100 doctors, nurses and staff kept Angel's 22-year-old mother Karla Perez alive for 54 days -- just long enough to deliver the baby via cesarean section.<br />

"Our team took a giant leap of faith," Sue Korth, vice president and COO of Methodist Women's Hospital, said in a statement Thursday announcing the successful procedure. "We were attempting something that not many before us have been able to do."<br />
Perez collapsed in her home in Waterloo, Nebraska, on Feb. 8 after complaining of severe headaches. Doctors later determined she had suffered a brain bleed.<br />

With her baby at just 22 weeks -- too young to survive outside the womb -- "it was then that we had decisions to make," said Dr. Andrew Robertson at the Methodist Women's Hospital.<br />

Doctor's had hoped to sustain Perez long enough to deliver her baby at 32 weeks, but the young woman's condition deteriorated two weeks shy of the target date so Angel was delivered on April 4.<br />

Angel was in an incubator and feeding through a tube, the hospital group said Thursday. "We are cautiously optimistic," said neonatologist Dr. Brady Kerr.<br />

The baby is still in NICU and his family surrounded him with his mom's things hoping that her scent will keep the baby comfortable.<br />
<br />
As for Karla, her organs helped save three people who were waiting for a transplant.<br />
