The fate of Budalangi Member of Parliament was sealed yesterday after MPs voted to sack him from the influential Public Accounts Committee (PAC) over corruption allegations.
This followed recommendations by the Powers and Privileges Committee chaired by Moses Cheboi, which investigated corruption allegations leveled against Namwamba and some members of the PAC.
The committee also found Namwamba guilty of linking fellow PAC members to corruption without substantial evidence. The Cheboi-led committee dismissed Ababu’s tape recording as fake and the testimony by his bodyguard as fabricated lies.
The MPs voted to dissolve PAC, which Namwamba chaired, and have it reconstituted afresh with the Budalangi MP out of the picture.
Other MPs who were sacked from PAC for engaging in corruption and who will never be part of the new PAC include Runyenjes MP, Cecil Mbarire, Edick Anyanga and Abbas among others.
Namwamba was also asked to apologize to members of the PAC and the entire Parliament today for implicating them in corruption without evidence as well as for discussing matters before Parliament in the media.
