AL SHABAAB Strikes Again Before we Forget Garissa Attack - See What They did to Teachers
It seems Somalia-based militants, Al Shabaab, are not done with Kenya even after killing 148 students in Garissa University on April 2nd.
This is after they struck again and kidnapped two primary school teachers in Mandera yesterday.
The heavily armed militants raided the houses of the two teachers in Mandera and bundled them into a vehicle before crossing into Somalia.
This happened barely a day after the same Al Shabaab kidnapped and killed Chief Muhtar Otieno after failing to receive a sh4 million ransom.
Speaking to the media, Mandera County Commissioner, Alex Nkoyo, confirmed the incident but said the police are on top of things and that the Government was doing everything within its powers to rescue the kidnapped teachers.
“We are investigating the incident which took place at around 4 pm. The two teachers are non-locals,” said Nkoyo.
The new development may see KNUT Secretary General, Wilson Sossion, renew his call for teachers to leave North Eastern as quickly as possible, considering that they have been among heavier casualties of Al Shabaab attacks in Northern Kenya.
