Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has asked for forgiveness for yesterday’s despicable incident in which armed anti-riot police confronted unarmed innocent kids of Lang’ata Road Primary School with guns, dogs and teargas as they demonstrated against the grabbing of their playground.

This came barely an hour after President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed to take stern action against the Lands Cabinet Secretary and National Land Commission (NLC) Chairman for doing nothing to prevent the demos that led to injuries of five kids.

The visibly angry Uhuru told Ngilu and Swazuri to take responsibility for the tear-gassing of kids yesterday.

On her twitter account, Ngilu took responsibility and apologized to the kids and Lang’ata Primary School for the mess, saying she should have done something to prevent the altercations like Uhuru said.

“It's highly regrettable that children were tear-gassed yesterday. This should never have happened. I accept we should have taken action earlier,” said Ngilu on twitter.

She vowed to be proactive in future and assured President Kenyatta that she will stop any further land grabbing in Kenya going forward.
