On Saturday morning, unknown gunmen shot dead Kabete MP, George Muchai, his driver and two of his bodyguards along Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi.

The 2.30 am incident happened like a scene from a Hollywood movie where masked gunmen inside a Toyota Probox rammed the MPs’ car and then sprayed it with bullets killing all the four occupants on the spot.

Muchai, who was with his wife, Susan Muchai, at a family function at Club Galileo was trailed by the white saloon car from Westlands to Kenyatta Avenue where the gunmen accomplished their mission.

But who could have sent assassins to kill the outspoken Kabete lawmaker?

Police sources said they are treating everybody who was at the scene on Saturday as a suspect until they finalise investigations.

According to a senior police officer who could not be named due to the nature of the case, Muchai’s wife, Susan Muchai, is among those being looked at keenly in connection with the murder.

Another police officer said Susan’s calm composure during the interview with the media on Sunday is an indication that she knew more about the killing.

The officer said the wife may have contracted and trailed the assassins silently to make sure the job was done and finished.

Susan was travelling in a separate car with her daughter that was behind Muchai’s Toyota Fortuner.
