A book titled ‘Hard Tackle’ about President Uhuru Kenyatta will begin serialisation by Daily Nation tomorrow. 
 
The author, Irungu Gikunju Thatiah, had in March provided a list of several facts you didn’t know about Uhuru Kenyatta. Here is a few: 
 
1. He takes dry whisky, and occasionally Tusker Malt. 
 
2. He met Justin Muturi in 1988, when they were both bachelors, in a club in Thika and both were stone high. Justin was the local magistrate and the two became bosom buddies to date. 
 
3. When he was circumcised, he didn’t go home to recuperate. John Michuki adopted him for a few months and Uhuru lived at his place in Ridgeways, sharing a bedroom with Martin Michuki, also a former classmate whom they shared a knife. 
 
4. Every time Uhuru meets his mother, he bows down when greeting her like a medieval knight. This goes also for Muhoho Kenyatta. 
 
5. After voting at Gatundu, Uhuru migrated for a week and went to live with one of her mother’s best friends who has an estate right opposite Bomas of Kenya.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has condemned hate messages on social media following the death of Homabay Senator Otieno Kajwang. “…some of the messages I have read here (Facebook page) and elsewhere are nothing short of appalling and disgraceful. Let us exercise our rights with responsibility. 
”….dont take advantage of our artificial differences…” added the president 
 
In the true Kenyan spirit of being considerate, let us cultivate a culture of tolerance and be mindful of what we post on the social media.” 
 
The President said in his second condolence message to the Kajwang family today. Uhuru asked the public to show good will to the late Senators family and to allow them to grieve in peace without the “added truama of hurtful and careless remarks.” 
 
“I urge all of us to embrace the spirit of brotherhood and mourn Senator Kajwang with the dignity befitting us as one united national family. I also request those responsible to remove messages that are inconsiderate, undignified or irresponsible from this page or other parts of online media.” he added. 
 
He added that the bereaved family and the nation need space to mourn Kajwang whom he described as “energetic, cheerful, charismatic, articulate and astute leader.” The president made the post on his Facebook that was later on pulled down. 
 
Kajwang’ died on Tuesday of a heart attack. The Senator was rushed to hospital from his Runda residence after complaining of chest pains. He died at around 11pm

ODM removes four rebel MPs Ken Obura, Dalmas Otieno, Zainab Chidzuga and Samuel Arama from parliamentary committees. 
 
The removal of the four MPs from their committee roles is a strong message to legislators from the Orange party that loyalty and fidelity to the agenda and manifesto of the party is paramount. 
 
ODM Leader Raila Odinga recently warned MPs from the Orange party to choose their stance – whether to be in ODM or join Jubilee.

While conspiracy theories often swirl whenever a prominent Kenyan has passed on, partly to let people cope with the loss, the death of Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang’ had its ‘telling’ moments that his supporters wonder could point to something sinister. 
 
Initial reports indicate the lawmaker died of cardiac arrest – heart attack. 
 
Hon Kajwang’ had been in parliament yesterday where he is said to have passionately supported a bill on police reforms. Later, sources reveal he left for parliament’s cafeteria where he joined his fellow lawmakers for a drink. 
 
However, in the week leading to his untimely demise, Hon. Kajwang had been at loggerheads with a group of ODM MPs whose support to the Orange Party and the current party cause – referendum – had all dissipated, allegedly, after being compromised by the government machinery.

The one and only reason why Davis Chirchir was appointed to the Cabinet is his high-level complicity in the rigging of the 2013 elections in favor of Jubilee. 
 
The only reason why Ahmed Isaack Hassan and his much-discredited IEBC is being shielded by Jubilee is because they owe their illegitimacy in power to the same IEBC and the Country’s security apparatus who conceptualized and facilitated the rigging.

CORD Coalition today released a press statement after revelations of serious fraud emanating from a UK court. Here is the presser. 
 
Ladies and Gentlemen; 
 
Very damaging and very shameful information is coming out of a London Court on the integrity and veracity of our elections and electoral processes running into 2013. 
 
The integrity of the people who ran that process and the integrity of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and the many other public institutions to which some of the former election officers have been deployed is in serious question. The case in London by the Serious Fraud Office puts our prosecution and our Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission to serious shame and credibility questions. 
 
That Kenyan election officials pocketed millions of shillings in bribes to award lucrative printing contracts to Smith & Ouzman over a two-year period, then those same people proceeded to manage our critical 2013 polls is an unacceptably strong statement on how low we sank and how much some of us insist we must remain in that hole. 
 
This same team that was asking for “chicken” from the printing company proceeded to procure for the high stakes 2013 elections, taking their corrupt ways, integrity questions and credibility gaps into an election whose significance was at par with the one held just before independence.Of concern beyond the corruption allegations is that: 
 
a) Smith & Ouzman, apart from giving bribes to the Kenya election officials, also printed additional ballot papers for Jubilee which were used to rig the 2013 Presidential elections. 
 
b) Gladys Shollei, who was fired as the Registrar of the Judiciary amidst similar corruption allegation, presided over the scrutiny of the IEBC tallying of the ballot on behalf of the Supreme Court in the 2013 election petition. Before joining the Judiciary, she was an official at IEBC and is implicated in the corruption at IEBC. 
 
c) During the tallying scrutiny at the Supreme Court, Jubilee was represented by Mr Davis Chirchir who was also a former colleague of Gladys Shollei at IEBC and is similarly implicated in this scandal. 
 
d) Some former members of this same team have gone ahead to be appointed to critical public positions like Cabinet Secretary for Energy, held by Mr Davis Chirchir. 
 
e) This same Chairman of IEBC, seeing nothing wrong with his conduct, is equally insisting on staying to manage our future elections. 
We maintain that we cannot let the past and its ghosts rest. We reject the doctrine of “accept and move on” while our nation suffers. 
We must take charge of the future. 
 
We therefore demand 
 
The immediate resignation of all the officers and former officers mentioned in this scandal, their immediate arrest and their immediate prosecution. The accountability must begin at the top with the arrest and prosecution of Mr Chirchir and Mr Hassan. 
 
We demand the investigation and audit of all the commissioners and principal officers of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. Such investigation must also be extended to the all those who worked with this commission but who have since been deployed elsewhere or sacked. 
 
We demand answers on what the government knows and when they knew it. We refuse to be party to the conspiracy of silence. What is being adduced in court in London point to a serous, baffling and shameful integrity and credibility gap on the part of these present and former officers and an indictment of the Jubilee regime. 
 
It cannot be that Jubilee does not know what these officers did. We have an intelligence service that is required to do background checks on people before they are appointed to key public positions like that of Cabinet Secretary. 
 
We demand that the EACC show cause why it cannot be disbanded, and investigations opened into its officers. This development puts to great shame our prosecutors, particularly the Director of Public Prosecutions and the anti-corruption agency officials who have yet to nail anyone for these offences. 
 
We demand the immediate arrest of Mr Trevy James Oyombra who is reported to have been the Kenyan making hefty payouts to Kenyan officials to influence the award of printing contracts to the UK firm. He must be sought and held to account. 
 
We demand that the Kenya Commercial Bank, to which money was transferred for Mr Oyombra for onward distribution, must help the investigations and disclose how much was transferred to the officials implicated. 
 
This scandal kills completely the credibility and global standing of our nation. We have reason to believe that this international corruption network remains intact in government. It is wrecking more havoc on our economy, compromising provision of public services while at the same time raising the cost of those same services, shoddily rendered. 
 
As the Serious Fraud Office has rightly said, “Corruption in the public sector hampers the efficiency of public services, undermines confidence in public institutions and increases the cost of public transactions. 
 
The integrity of the IEBC has been brought into serious question. So is that of any other public institution led by any officer who participated in this fraud. 
 
All individuals and institutions mentioned must account.

Kenya’s election officials pocketed millions of shillings in bribes to award lucrative printing contracts to a UK company over a two-year period, prosecution documents filed in a London court show. 
 
In a legal battle that has left in its wake one of the best documented cases of an international corruption network in Kenya’s history, the UK prosecutors have filed in court loads of written evidence implicating senior election officials in the corruption ring, including Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Issack Hassan. 
 
Court documents show that the Kenyan taxpayer paid dearly for the illicit dealings between senior Smith & Ouzman (S&O) officials and the senior managers and commissioners in the defunct Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC), putting to shame Kenyan prosecutors and the anti-corruption agency officials who have yet to nail anyone for the offences. 
 
“The scale of the corruption alleged by the prosecution is worth £349,057.39 (Sh50 million) in Kenya,” the prosecutor Mark Bryant-Heron says in court filings. 
 
For many of the printing contracts, costs were inflated by up to 38 per cent mainly to cater for the kickbacks — commonly referred to in the mails as ‘chicken’ — to senior election officials, the UK prosecutors say. 
 
The prosecutors say “the corrupt payments were built into S&O’s pricing of the printed materials so that the inflation in the price as a result of that corruption was passed onto those funding the institutions that contracted with S&O.”

Forensic investigations by the UK’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) show that top IIEC officials, the predecessor of IEBC, variously asked for bribes codenamed ‘chicken’ to facilitate S&O’s winning of seven tenders to supply election materials such as ballot papers, voter registration forms, voter ID cards and nomination forms. 
 
Energy secretary Davis Chirchir, who worked as a senior manager at the IIEC, tops the list of senior government officials named in the corruption racket. 
 
The list includes suspended IEBC chief executive James Oswago, former Judiciary registrar Gladys Boss Shollei (deputy CEO), lawyer Kennedy Nyaundi (commissioner), Kenneth Karani (senior procurement officer) and the finance director. 
 
The SFO is the UK’s independent agency that investigates and prosecutes serious and complex fraud cases, including bribery and corruption. 
 
The UK managers have been charged under the European nation’s Prevention of Corruption Act (1906) which prohibits use of inducements to employees of foreign governments to influence decisions and win business deals. 
 
The prosecutor’s case is that senior managers at S&O, including Christopher Smith (former chairman), his son Nick Smith (sales and marketing director), Tim Forrester (international sales manager) and Trevy James Oyombra, the Kenyan agent, made hefty payouts to Kenyan officials to influence the award of printing contracts to the UK firm. 
 
The kickbacks, amounting to Sh49.3 million at the current exchange rate, covered election materials for the 2010 Constitution referendum, four parliamentary by-elections held in Shinyalu, Bomachoge, South Mugirango and Matuga as well as a host of civic poll 
 
The fresh allegations of impropriety at the Issack Hassan-led IIEC, which morphed into the IEBC in November 2011 following the enactment of a new Constitution, come in the wake of a recent wave of arrests and prosecution of senior IEBC officials over the procurement of materials for last year’s election. 
 
The fact that a number of senior officials alleged to have benefited from the corruption ring, including the chairman, transited from IIEC to IEBC, puts the integrity of IEBC to question. S&O was single-sourced by the IEBC to print ballot papers and supply other electoral materials for the March 2013 General Election. 
 
“Corruption in the public sector hampers the efficiency of public services, undermines confidence in public institutions and increases the cost of public transactions,” the SFO says in a statement. 
 
The blow-by-blow account of the multi-million-shilling international corruption ring claims that S&O transferred the payments to Mr Oyombra, its Kenya agent, who would draw the money and distribute to senior election officials. 
 
The funds were mostly transferred from the UK to Mr Oyombra’s accounts held at KCB for further distribution to beneficiaries. 
 
Mr Oyombra previously worked as a procurement officer with the defunct Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) and therefore had access to privileged information at IIEC. 
 
Court documents show that Mr Hassan on December 3, 2009 emailed Mr Smith inviting S&O to tender for a contract to produce 18 million voter registration cards in a deal valued at £278,838 (Sh39.4 million) but Mr Oyombra had already emailed his bosses the tender invitation two days earlier on December 1, 2009, indicating that he had the information ahead of publication of the tender. 
 
“This tender for IIEC will be ours thanks to Dena pushing,” Mr Smith said in an email after discussing the matter with his local agent, Mr Oyombra. 
 
Dena, whose other name is not given, is described in the suit papers as an ‘individual who assisted S&O to arrange bribes for Kenyan officials.’ 
 
One other individual said to have been pivotal in the working of the bribery ring is Hamida who the UK prosecutors describe as ‘an individual connected to Oswago’. 
 
SFO detectives retrieved a trail of damning e-mail exchanges between S&O and Kenyan election officials, shipping invoices and local purchase orders (LPOs) used by the procuring entities to build the case against the UK managers. 
 
The documents show that Kenyan election officials in one instance inflated the price of each of the 14.51 million ballot papers ordered for the referendum in 2010 by a margin of Sh0.75, translating to £105,193.82 (Sh14.8 million) in kickbacks paid back to them through Mr Oyombra. 
 
Mr Oswago, Mr Smith and Mr Oyombra’s alleged negotiation of the bribes is captured in a series of emails exchanges and telephone conversations held in May 2010 — barely three months to the plebiscite. 
 
“My guys are after money yes, but this should not make us not win the tender. These people are only in IIEC till the end of the year so they are after making money and they will play game with whoever puts what they want,” Mr Oyombra wrote in an email to his bosses in the UK. 
The cost of the bribes to Mr Oswago and the IIEC team and a further inducement of Sh0.08 per ballot paper to Mr Oyombra, inflated the original printing price of Sh2.30 for every ballot paper by 36 per cent to Sh3.13. 
 
“The prosecution’s case is that the defendants (S&O) used commission payments to these agents to mask corrupt payments to public officials who were in a position to influence the outcome of the tender for the business.” 
 
Those named as having benefited from the fresh voter registration deal ahead of the 2010 referendum include Mr Chirchir, who is said to have travelled to London to visit S&O’s factory and ‘review progress’ on the tender. 
 
“Dena and Chirchir will be in London and would like to meet you on Monday,” Mr Oyombra said in an email to Nicholas Smith dated February 4, 2010 adding that Mr Chirchir and fellow electoral officials “were looking for a figure of Sh10 million for emself (sic), commissioners and others.” 
 
The email correspondence reveals that S&O was to ‘take care of their travel expenses of the IIEC officials within the UK in case they need to roam around and maybe hotel.’ 
 
And in a line that suggests widespread knowledge of the corrupt payments within the IIEC, Mr Oyombra wrote to Nick Smith warning him not to pay any money directly to the visiting officials as they were accompanied by government officials who were not aware of the ring. 
 
“If we had Shollei, CEO [Oswago], Chirchir, Nyaundi and the finance dir, proc man [Karani] they would understand as they are the ones driving this [sic] orders to us,” said Mr Oyombra. 
 
The prosecutors claim that the Kenyan officials, including Mr Chirchir and Mr Oswago, received bribes totalling £88,840 (Sh12.5 million) which was coded as ‘chicken’ to be shared by the commissioners and senior IIEC officials 
 
“I’ve spoken to the CEO on delivery of forms and he will get back to me tomorrow. He’s so happy I’ve mentioned that chicken will be with me on Friday or Saturday. I hope you will be able to make the debit transactions to me today to facilitate me to have the payments done to them by Saturday latest,” said Mr Oyombra in an email. 
 
The prosecutors further allege that Mr Oswago and other IIEC officials deliberately tilted tender decisions in favour of S&O and kicked out other competitors on frivolous grounds. 
 
“Trevy stated that Oswago told him he did not want to work with one of S&O’s competitors, Lithotech. By contrast, Oswago had assured Trevy (Oyombra) that he would continue to work with S&O, who had paid him bribes in the past and would continue to pay him bribes in the future,” Nicholas Smith says in an email to his father Christopher. 
 
“He (Mr Oswago) believes in S&O and that’s what is important and we’ve given him money for the voters’ card and after payment for balance and pouches we are set to give him £21,000 Sh2,100,000. So he knows we can deliver both materially and money and I think this goodwill is important,” Mr Oyombra said in an email he wrote on May, 1, 2010. 
 
The prosecution also alleges that prices of election materials for the Matuga and South Mugirango by-elections and for various civic polls jumped 34 per cent to £69,626.04 from an initial price of £52,079.80 after factoring in the kickbacks to Kenyan election officials. 
 
The prosecutor told the London court that the kickbacks from the by-elections deal totalled £12,686.61 (Sh1.8 million). 
 
“Following a further meeting between Oswago and Trevy (Oyombra) the value of these contracts rose again. This was done, the prosecution suggests, to enable the payment of bribes to officials whilst maintaining some profit for S&O.”

Don’t get me wrong, I totally am not supportive of a crowd that takes matters into there own hand to strip a lady because of what in their view is indecent dressing especially what happened at the EmbaSsava stage and in Coast as it was wrong and extreme.. but at the same time ladies let’s be mindful of how we dress.. A short dress/skirt/short is OK to wear and rock but then again there’s a level of short that is just a no no especially during the day.. Anything you wear that is just an inch or two below your bum is unacceptable during the day and out in public.. It could even lead you to get gang rapped as it could be viewed as provocative.. 
 
As we rally for the ‪#‎MyDressMyChoice‬ mantra let’s also be mindful of what we choose to display.. 
 
I always say if you wear something that you keep pulling at the hem as you walk or adjust it to be longer then it means you ain’t comfortable in it yourself and it’s likely to attract the wrong kind of attention..

It is not correct, nor fair, to accuse the Jubilee Government, of being the cause of insecurity in Kenya. Long before Jubilee took over the leadership of this nation, Kenya was already experiencing a rise in the rate of crime in the country. But the question is not whether Jubilee is responsible for the insecurity in Kenya. It is whether the Jubilee government has failed in its endevours to secure the country.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
My submission is that it has not only failed to secure the citizen but is actually responsible for the continuing insecurity in the country.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Let’s look at how Jubilee approached the issue of security when it took over government last year. On page 11 of the harmonized manifesto of the Jubilee coalition, it says that “crime and security threaten our national security. Criminals stalk our cities while disorder threatens our rural communities. Terrorism and instability are a real and present threat along our borders.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
After properly summarizing the state of insecurity in Kenya, the Jubilee coalition then proceeded to analyse some of the reasons why this was so. At page 12 of the manifesto, it says; “Too many of our communities have been troubled by violence and the resulting tension has been fueled by a sense of exclusion and disadvantage.”</div>

And at page 14 it says: “However, we recognise that much disorder stems from a lingering sense of alienation.” And the coalition is clear as to what its role as the ruling party is. It makes the following declaration at page 14 of the manifesto: “Any Government’s first duty is to keep its citizens safe and secure from harm”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
It says that in order to fulfill this “first duty”, it shall carry out “ something of a revolution in Kenya; a revolution at its most basic that will…keep Kenya safe and secure both internally and externally ”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
To do so, the coalition made many proposals on how it will go about creating “something of a revolution”. These are contained in pages 15 and 16 of the Manifesto. Most notably, it promised to “reduce the frustration and alienation which is so often the root of crime in our country”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
It is sad to observe that the proposals made by Jubilee in its manifesto are only being honoured in flagrant breach. Firstly, from the outset, the commonest criticism against Jubilee is that it has increased the sense of alienation of communities and has failed at uniting the various peoples of Kenya. In its own admission, this failure is “the root of crime in our country”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
But let’s look at some of the express promises made by Jubilee in its manifesto as to what it would do to curb insecurity in Kenya.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
1. Shake up the National Intelligence Service Kenya’s security has been compromised over the years by botched intelligence collection and sharing systems. Jubilee promised to shakeup the NIS. But the only “shake up” it has conducted is to replace the Director-General of NIS, who had resigned on his own volition anyway.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Calls for a shakeup of the entire security sector leadership have been ignored, raising question about Jubilee’s sincerity when it made this promise to Kenyans.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
2. Pass a new Prevention of Terrorism Act</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
No such law has been passed nor proposed. Kenya continues to rely on the Prevention of Terrorism Act No. 30 of 2012 which was passed by the Grand coalition.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
3. Strengthen the new Independent Police Complaints Authority</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
While the performance of IPOA is commendable with the little resources it has, there is nothing to show for the promise to strengthen it as promised</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
4. Increase the police-citizen ratio within five years by recruiting extra 15,000 police officers per annum. Enhance efficiency by providing modern security equipment and transport</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
The recruitment of officers is not only below the rate promised, the little that has been undertaken is mired in corruption, nepotism and tribalism. This has resulted in a judicial nullification of the last exercise.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
The modern security equipment and transport provision programme has collapsed. In fact, as far as modern equipment is concerned, only one bomb proof vehicle has been bought so far, and it is used exclusively by Presidential guards.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
5 Create a new Border Security Force to defend the nation’s borders and provide additional security support to border counties. The worst security situations in Kenya today are in the border counties of Turkana, Mandera and Lamu. The other security threats are in the counties that are peripheral to these i.e. Tana River, Pokot, Samburu, Isiolo, Marsabit and Wajir. So far, not even a policy paper has been lauched forthe establishment of the Border Security Force.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
6. Rationalize security budgets and subject procurement of security equipment and services to public scrutiny and ensure competitive bidding Nothing has changed in the procurement of security equipment and services in Kenya. Just a few months ago, the Government single sourced the provision of a security surveillance systems from Safaricom at a cost of Kenya shillings 15 billion. There was no competitive bidding, public scrutiny or transparency in the tendering as promised in the manifesto.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
8. Introduce bolus technology to deal with cattle rustling</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Nothing has been heard about this promise since it was written into the manifesto. Overall, it is difficult to tell what exactly the input of Jubilee in the improvement of security is, that is apart from its continuing attempt to introduce the discredited, insidiously autocratic communist one-party state system of social engineering known as “nyumba kumi”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
The little it has done, if any, is such a far cry from the “something of a revolution” promised in the manifesto that it would be fair to conclude that Jubilee has done nothing to stem the decline of security in Kenya.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Where security is concerned, Jubilee’s sails are still relying on the winds of the Grand coalition. What is even more disturbing is that the coalition’s failure comes amidst its admission that “any Government’s first duty is to keep its citizens safe and secure from harm”. So what does this failure mean, even in Jubilee’s own terms?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
And it is not that Jubilee has been idle as it fails in its primary duty. No! On the contrary, Jubilee has spend a lot of time and massive amounts of resources fighting the International Criminal Court, constructing a standard gauge railway against the better advise of many sober minded economists, reforming the National Youth Service ( rather than the National Police Service ), and cleaning up Kibera.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
And the future does not look good either. The government’s policy of militarizing internal security will makes thing worse. The people of Kenya when they promulgated the Constitution 2010 were very wary of the situation where the military may be used in domestic law and order.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Therefore in Article 241 (3) of the Constitution, they provided that the National Defense Forces “may be deployed to restore peace in any part of Kenya affected by unrest or instability only with the approval of the National Assembly”. Under Jubilee, the military is slowly replacing the police in the maintenance of domestic law and order. The military is deployed so frequently that Government doesn’t even care to seek Parliamentary approval anymore.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
This will invariably have two results. The first is the general decline in respect for human rights. While the police are trained to protect the citizen, the military is trained to attack enemies. But in domestic situations, there are no enemies. Everyone, both the victim and the assailant, are citizens.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Engaging the military in internal security brings about the danger that they will treat one set of Kenyans as enemies, for that is what they are trained to do. For this reason, the military is used very sparingly and to a very limited extend in the scope of responsibility, equipment and time.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
The second danger in militarizing internal security is what is called “the weapons’ effect”. It is a proven phenomenon in social psychology that the mere presence of a weapon leads to more aggressive behavior in human beings.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
So while the Jubilee government thinks that marching the Kenya Defense Forces into insecure areas will intimidate the confrontationists into submission to law and order, the actual effect as established by scientific research is that this will escalate the levels of hostility to “military grade”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
The overall result will be that in the end, we shall have to militarize the country just to contain the levels of insecurity resulting from having militarized internal security in the first place.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
Then, in the end, Jubilee need not have made all those promises on security in its manifesto. It would have sufficed to say that in order to deal with the security situation, is shall militarize the Kenyan State.</div>

Honestly, sometimes the Deputy President of Kenya mesmerizes me on the things he says. When he takes it to the rostrum to indecorously say that ladies must be afforded the freedom of habiliment, again demonstrates that governance in Kenya is not directed at moral improvement of the people but the improvement and sustenance of the few at the helm of affairs. 
 
Strikingly, by supporting the semi-naked attired ladies and fuelling their immorality, Mr. Ruto clearly buttresses the assertions that our system of governance has been turned into you rub-my-back-I-rub-your-back charade. 
 
Kenya’s system of governance is here to ensure that the will of God is not only thwarted, but permanently buried. This is a shame and the international community must surely be marveled at our brand of leadership. 
 
The implication of this rape on morals and values of Christianity by Mr. Ruto perhaps at the behest of his master, is that the government wants to be reelected and therefore emasculate women and use them as a shield. 
 
The immodest call by Mr. Ruto is ethically ungraspable and uncalled for because it will promote rape and frottage. Mr. Ruto should go public, apologize and withdraw what he said. From my professional point of view, Ruto’s utterances were not a slip of the tongue, but a slip of the mind. 
 
Naturally, men are malleable to what they see. Thus, women should dress decently to avoid attracting indecent acts. William Ruto must go public and apologize to all Kenyans for making this country a sub-hell.

Political Parties Act 2011, I am told, is the overseer of all registered political parties in Kenya. Conversely, there are some that go against the spirit of the Act. In these parties, the expression of divergent views by members seems to be criminalized with glee. This has become a new Ebola in our politics. 
 
Democracy is anchored on the fairness of the people and the freedom to choose what to say and who to associate with. This is necessary for the actualization of individual or group ideals and the promotion and protection of common interests. Since the introduction of multi-party politics in Kenya, politicians have always freely chosen between appropriate political platforms, either to contest or to throw their weight behind the candidates of their preferred parties. 
 
Glorified intolerance is always the most dangerous weapon in the hands of many Kenyan political demagogues. However, it is most regrettable that when our national democracy is strikingly maturing and becoming entrenched, some forces of darkness are bent on stagnating it. Or how else can we explain the barbaric hounding of ODM Executive General Magerer Langat from Orange House – the party that claims to champion for democracy. 
 
It is no secret that politicians have continued to exhibit intolerance towards the policymakers and insensitivity to the plight of poor Kenyans. ODM They has not only elevated impunity as its policy, but is also currently working to return itself to the dark and dreary days of political party totalitarianism. Raila should be reminded that ours is a democracy, he must permit people to make new political choices. 
 
ODM must galvanize itself to tackle and ultimately trounce the lords of impunity that are contravening the Political Parties Act. Raila should stop chasing shadows by sacrificing democracy on the altar of parochialism and selfish politics. He should endear himself to Kenyans by ensuring that Orange House bears the imprint of the spirit of order, justice and moderation. 
 
For the MCA’s that roughed up Magerer, it was bare-faced thuggery, insensitivity and indecency. By roughing up the party Executive, they exhibited unimaginative principles of governance, lack of vision and foresight. 
 
The office of Magerer is a product of ODM Constitution, emerging at the behest of the Kenya Political Parties Act. Therefore his unceremonious persecution is nothing but the rule of force and not the rule of law which cannot prevail because democracy does not thrive on impunity. 
 
Magerer was appointed primus inter pares – a first among equals – by ODM’s National Executive Council (NEC) and he validly remains in office until he is constitutionally directed otherwise. He can only be sent parking by the party conflict resolution experts appointed to probe him. 
 
The action of the MCA’s, apparently on orders from ‘above’, confirms that the present ODM administration has utter disdain for political party democracy. Magerer has not violated any constitutional provision by expressing his freedom of speech. His accusers have no evidence against him. Nevertheless, even if he has committed any constitutional breach, the due process must be allowed to determine so, rather than hounding him like a dangerous criminal in full glare of the cameras. The heinous act against him has everlastingly traumatized him and his family. 
 
Interestingly, when members of other political parties decamp to ODM, they are often welcomed with fanfare and immediately afforded adequate political protection even when they are not legally at liberty enjoy such perks. For instance, when Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale decamped from UDF to ODM, he was warmly received and immediately enjoyed the comfort zone. He found ODM to be the ideal political rostrum for him to do what he does best, throwing political stones at the government. 
 
Magerer by his words and actions since his emergence as ODM Executive Director has left nobody in doubt that he is out to guarantee the overall growth of the party. He has helped to crown merit instead of political convenience. As a party Executive Director, he has deepened democracy. Mr. Odinga must come out clearly and save Magerer the ordeal. He must condemn the criminalization of divergent opinions that complicates the health of democracy. 
 
Any attempt to continue to depriving him of his constitutional entitlements and forcefully removing him from office through unconstitutional means, is uncalled for. By allowing Magerer to suffer, the former Prime Minister is validating various damning accusations by critics that have continued to accuse him of running the party as his own property. Practically, ODM has desecrated its Constitution by overlooking the fact that democracy cannot stand without the rule of law. 
 
In the face of this provocation, Kenyans must not only pray but also rise to defend democracy by protecting Magerer. To Kenyans across the political divide, this is not a matter of political affiliation. I am talking of the Executive Director of the party whose rights he has been scrapped indecorously and without due process. The illegal removal of Magerer and exposing him to both bodily and psychological detriment has gravely injured the soul of democracy in the party.

At least four people have been killed by suspected radical youth in Mtopanga, Kisauni in Mombasa. 
 
One person said to be a pastor died on the spot after he was stabbed in the neck by one member of the rowdy youth on Monday night. 
 
Sources at the scene said three other bodies were removed by police from the scene and more than 20 youth arrested. Police has not confirmed the number of those killed on Monday night attacks. 
 
Police suspect that the incident may have been a revenge attack for the killing of a youth at Masgid Shuhadaa during a raid on two Mosques in Kisauni on Sunday night . 
 
Several people were injured. Residents claim the youth who were armed with crude weapons, attacked motorist and pedestrians after Monday prayers at around 8.30 pm. Kisauni police boss Richard Ngatia said they have managed to disperse the youth 
 
He said several people have been arrested in Kisauni district and the security operation is still going on. 
 
A team of GSU officers, regular, AP and prison officers have been deployed to Kisauni and Majengo area to avert any possible retaliatory attacks by the radical youth. 
 
The two mosques, Masjid Shuhadaa and Sakina are under tight security following the recovery of 8 grenades a pistol, crude-weapon and jihad literature during the raid that was launched on sunday night. 
 
A total 251 youth were arrested during the Sunday night operation.

Thighs on mini-skirts are public property which will be consumed any way the public chooses. As such, stripping could be one of those ways. As my friend-in-discourse Nyamweya Bw’Omari has just told me, “if their dress code is their choice, stripping them is also our choice/nudity not our choice.” One thing we must know is that the flesh of an African woman is irresistibly beautiful. You will never see us provoked by a naked Mzungu because there is nothing inviting in skin-like-pork. 
 
This is easily appreciated alongside the fact that we are in a society and not a vacuum. Can you claim you are comfortable when your passing brings an entire street to a halt? Will we allow one person to expose a whole community of God’s creatures to sinful and abrupt erections!? No wonder God decided to dress a woman after ‘exposing’ herself to the ‘snake’. 
 
While some of our ladies think that they can become porn-stars on the humble streets of Africa, they better know that we cannot stand open flesh – it is for consumption. You know what meat in glassed butcheries does to those of you who love meat! I have even heard some of you tell us “fungeni macho kama hamuwezi kujizuia!”How now! Man was created an all-time ogling being. We cannot shun a passing beauty, a loophole to pleasure! Ama you think hiyo self-control is simply done as said? 
 
I do not want any of you my brothers to be cheated that they way just for fashion. Any woman with the boldness to show her thighs to the public or even parents is capable of everything. Ladies have a malicious and opportunistic eye that bewitches men of status. 
 
Women are permanent field marshals – always seeing far and on top of scenarios. How many marriages are oozing chaos courtesy of the temptation these stray women cause with their displayed flesh? Many a managers have bent company principles because of this THIGHING effect. Promotions and Degrees have been given to undeserving creatures just for these thighs! 
 
I wonder where religion has gone. Those on the front of‪#‎MyDresscodeMyChoice‬ are ladies who lead speaking- in-tongues sprees every Sunday. If you joined that, you are not my sister, wife, mother or daughter –you are an agent of temptation. 
 
In the evening, I will confirm whether it is true that only single, bitter and hopeless ladies led the protest walk. As it were, no woman is comfortable knowing their husband works with a lady who is always out of enough cloth. Even those who struggle to hide their thighs with their palms as they grace TV Talk Shows on this overrated topic know the society is not safe with revealed thighs and baby’s food! 
 
I don’t write for discourse but to attract the so called “feminine furry”. In fact, mkinitishia I will mobilise my boys allover Kenya to boycott that flesh whose awe is ruined by its over-exposure. It is unbecoming that you will copy and paste Corazon Indomables and Lorenzos in Kenya. Tukutane kwa maandamano ya ‪#‎YourNudityMyDiscomfort‬ next week. Hii nchi si ya mapaja yako bwana ala!

Nairobi Governor, Dr Evans Kidero, on Friday said Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) must form the next Government in 2017. 
 
Speaking in Homa Bay High School where he was the chief guest in a fund-raiser, Kidero who was accompanied by more than 10 ODM MPs said the Luo community must work ways to be in the Government in 2017 so that they can compete with other communities in Kenya. 
 
“I want to assure you that we are going to form the next Government by all means. We will try the window if the door cannot make us get what we want,” Kidero. 
 
Kidero told his critics in ODM who have called him a “Jubilee mole” that he is in the party to stay and that he will not allow anybody to threaten him to leave. 
 
“I am a member of ODM and I am not going to leave because our party allows for democracy. This is the party that has fought for the liberation of Kenyans and was at the forefront in pushing for a new Constitution,” Kidero said amid applause from members of the public. 
 
“All political parties want to be in power so that they can implement policies that will transform lives. This is the main reason why I traverse various parts of this region. The money I am pooling is for transforming the lives of our people,” Kidero added. 
Kidero said Luo Nyanza has lagged behind because of putting politics ahead of development. 
 
“Let our people stop confusing matters of development with politics. Let us all come together and do projects, which can change lives of our people,” he said.

 United Democratic Forum (UDF) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, on Thursday said he will vie for Presidency in 2017 and he is sure that he will floor all his opponents. 
 
In a statement read by his Communications Director, Kibisu Kabatesi, during a thanksgiving ceremony by Kenya’s Deputy Ambassador to the AU in Addis Ababa, Aggrey Shitsama, at his home in Kakamega, Mudavadi said if elected he will end  tribalism and nepotism which are rampant in the Jubilee administration. 
 
Mudavadi said with the blessings of his Luhya community he has numbers to trounce the Jubilee administration in 2017. 
 
He said if elected President, he would make appointments to Government on the basis of population quotas of all communities in Kenya. 
 
“No one would be left to complain because they would get their share depending on the size of their population. It will not matter whether you voted for me or not,” Mudavadi said. 
 
The UDF party leader concluded by saying he will be guided by the constitution’s demands that the composition of the national government reflects ethnic diversity.

 Embattled Salvation Healing Ministry Pastor Victor Kanyari, has sensationally claimed that he was conned Sh 500,000 by Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko. 
 
In an exclusive interview with one of the local dailies, Kanyari who was last week exposed for trading fake miracles and prayers for money,  said  Sonko called him at his office at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) and told him a prominent family was looking for someone to pray for them at a cost of Sh24 million. 
 
“True to Sonko’s word, the following day, I received a call and a meeting was set up. I was in town along Tom Mboya and within 30 minutes, a Land Rover came for me. I parked my car and got into a GK Land Rover driven by a man in military uniform,” Kanyari said. 
 
“But instead of heading to the venue in Muthaiga, we drove towards KICC,” Kanyari added. 
 
He said his driver was instructed to first go to Sonko’s KICC offices, where Sonko ordered Kanyari to pay a connection fee of Sh 500,000 so that he can be taken to the prominent family. 
 
“I offered him my car as collateral, but he refused. So, I went to town and raised Sh500, 000 from friends. After receiving the cash, Sonko told me to go and wait in the Land Rover at the parking lot,” Kanyari who was almost crying said. 
 
Kanyari says when he got to teh parking lot, there was no Land Rover and when he went back to Sonko’s office, the Senator’s security barred him from accessing Sonko.  
 
“I was conned, but I take full responsibility for being gullible,” He said adding that he reported the matter at KICC Police Post but the police did not believe him. 
 
But in a swift rejoinder Sonko dismissed these claims asking Kanyari to produce evidence. 
 
"I know him and a lot of other bishops but I have never done business with anyone of them. If Kanyari says I conned him, let him come forward with evidence," Sonko said.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is now a bitter man and may never forgive Gor Mahia aka, K’Ogalo, after what it did to him on Friday. 
 
This is after Gor bypassed him and handed over the Kenya Premier League (KPL) trophy cup they lifted last week to Uhuru instead of Raila Odinga. 
 
Gor refused to hand the cup to Raila, who is the team’s patron and instead handed it to Uhuru Kenyatta at State House as they sang songs in his praise and granted him the team’s guard of honour. 
 
K’Ogalo also gave Uhuru a Gor jersey as the official Gor Mahia national anthem rented the entire State House. 
 
Gor Mahia’s fan No 1 Jared Opiyo, popularly known as Jaro Soja, also got a rare opportunity to meet the most powerful man in Kenya at State House, which he has been dreaming about just like Baba. 
 
Uhuru gave Gor a whooping sh3 million and offered Jaro Soja a job at Sports Stadia Management Board.

A group of drivers assigned to MPs in the 11th Parliament were over-heard gossiping about how their bosses are mistreating them as they enjoy s3xual escapades. 
 
The poor drivers were seated in a car park at Continental Building drinking small packets of milk. 
 
Apparently, their bosses engage in frequent s3x sessions with prostitutes and college girls at the back-seat of their cars in presence of their drivers. 
 
One of them was over-heard saying, 
 
“Last weekend, My boss had s3x with two prostitutes in the car in my presence. One at Koinange and the other one in Westlands. I was left fantasizing as they enjoyed it.” 
 
Another driver assigned to a flashy MP who loves publicty was heard saying, 
 
“The other day, I had to sleep for more than five hours as he partied with girls who are clearly just in college.” 
 
The poor drivers are then forced to wash the “mess” after the MPs finish tasting the “glory ravine.” 
 
However, there is nothing these drivers can do since their bosses call the shots and even threaten to kill them if they expose their randy behaviours.

Even as the debate on the lady who was stripped by Embassava touts along Accra Road continues, matatu conductors at the Coast have decided to undress another lady over what they termed as indecent dressing. 
 
Surprisingly, the lady was clad in a trouser and one just wonders why they had to undress her in broad-daylight. But a closer look at the video shows some men trying to touch her assets and some go to the extent of inserting their fingers in her private parts.

Touts striked again as another video of a girl being forcefully stripped naked hit the internet and instantly went viral. It is becoming an issue of national concern and President Uhuru Kenyatta MUST speak out. 
 
Unfortunately, the men stripping women are indirectly helped along by screaming women, (who are probably jealous of how their fellow women are dressed) thinking they are doing the right thing. 
 
It’s going out of hand and the president of Kenya- Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and His deputy William Samoei Ruto need to not only speak about it but condemn these acts as well in the strongest terms possible! 
 
The Inspector General of Police Mr. David Kimaiyo must of necessity issue orders for all these men and women to be arrested and charged with attempted RAPE and indecent assault! Because that is exactly what they did to these women. 
 
Something needs to be done and done urgently! Who decides how decent or not one is? Whats the measure for decency? Nobody has a right to tell anyone what to wear and how to wear it! Everyone has a choice! Just as WE men have a choice! Nuff sed!

Newspaper columnist and Blogger Njoki Chege is a hard-hitting no nonsense columnist who has drawn the ire of both men and women in almost equal measure. She writes about varied topics and when she is done penning them down, her write-ups always draw the wrath of her subjects. 
 
But Njoki Chege seems not to be good in honouring her financial obligations. She borrowed Ksh 700,000 from the STandard Group’s staff Sacco. She used Ksh 500,000 from the loan to buy that pathetic piece of machine called a Toyota IST. Paying Ksh 268,000 which is part of the loan remaining unpaid, has been a problem to her. 
 
It is either Nation Media which she writes for now, doesn’t pay her well or she is just not disciplined in financial matters. Some of the people who guaranteed her loan are Charles CEO Otieno, Tracy Bett, Stephen Ndegwa and Harold Ayodo. The Sacco has promised to attach the salaries of her guarantor because Njoki Chege has refused to honour the financial obligations. 
 
Efforts by the guarantors to convince her to pay the loan has been fruitless. 
 
Njoki Chege should stop calling men poor unless she wants them to clear for her the loan.

Controversial lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has promised to bring down Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku when they come face to face in court.  
 
Ahmednassir, whose views about Lenkus performance are public, says, after the case, Lenku will go back to his career in the hospitality industry. €œI promise ole lenku will meet his Waterloo in court,â€ said Ahmednassir on Twitter.  
 
The threat to kick Lenku out of the influential public office was made via microblogging site Twitter just hours after news filtered that Lenku had sued Ahmednassir for defamation. Then as if to pour cold water on the suit, and the consequences that might arise if the courts rule in favour of the Cabinet Secretary, Ahmednassir said Lenku was €œpublic property€. A public servant is legally incapable of being defamed. 
 
 He is a public property, would I have defamed ole Lenku if he remained in his former job? posed the controversial lawyer. Ahmednassirâ€™s broadside on the Interior Cabinet Secretary, a former boss of Utalii College, the government hospitality school, comes just a week after the Law Society of Kenya said it will punish lawyers for professional misconduct if they post unpleasant comments on social media. 
 
 In a suit filed through his lawyer Donald Kipkorir, Lenku, said that between October 27 and November 11 the lawyer â€œfalsely and maliciously printed and published defamatory words against him.â€ Lenku and Ahmednassir have been sparring on Twitter to an extent that Lenku had to ask the Director of Public Prosecutions to intervene and have the lawyer prosecuted. â€œIn consequence of the said publications, the plaintiff has been injured in his credit, character and reputation and brought into hatred, ridicule and contempt,€ Mr Kipkorir states in the application filed late Friday.  
 
The Cabinet Secretary, in the suit, added that the lawyers twitter posts portrayed him (Lenku) as a person who does not understand or respect law among other issues raised. Ahmednassir had linked Lenku to the invasion and grabbing of land in Narok and Kajiado counties. Lenku is seeking for aggravated and exemplary damages.
